WalletHub's 2017 Taxpayer Survey

​Every year, WalletHub's conducts a Taxpayer Survey. In addition to many interesting and sometimes comical findings, the survey also shares information about the tax burdens by state. ​

This year's survey reported thaWalletHub's 2017 Taxpayer Survey Blogt Floridian's tax burden at the state and local levels was fairly reasonable with an overall ranking of 10th for its effective state and tax rate. This means that only nine other states scored better with lower tax rates.

For Total sales and excise taxes, Florida ranked #8. As a state, Florida score average in real estate taxes right in the middle ranking 25 out of 50. Where the state fell lower on the rankings was vehicle property tax lining up in spot #28.

On a humorous note, 20% of survey respondents indicated that they would be willing to get a tatoo that says "IRS" if it would allow them to avoid paying taxes in the future. Ten percent of these respondents were also willing to stop talking for six months to enjoy a lifetime tax relief.
