If you love sushi, sake, and the kind of culinary craftsmanship that makes you stop mid-bite, close your eyes, and silently thank the chef for their existence - I’ve got a new Naples hotspot you’ll want to put at the top of your dining list. 🍱
Meet Mimoto, the brand-new Japanese Seafood Café and Sake Bar that’s just opened its doors on 9th Street South and Central Avenue — right next to longtime favorite Tong Yin.
The name Mimoto translates to “identity” or “background” in Japanese, and this place has both in spades. It’s the latest passion project from powerhouse chefs June Dispongsa and Somi Teamtanong... the same creative minds behind local favorites Ichi Togarashi, Tong Yin, and Sendo De Café. If you’ve dined at any of their other restaurants, you already know they don’t just meet expectations… they quietly (and deliciously) raise the bar every time.
A Slice of Japan in the Heart of Naples 🍣
Step inside and you’re instantly transported - warm minimalist wood, a serene, uncluttered aesthetic, and an open sushi bar where the artistry unfolds right before your eyes. Every detail feels intentional, from the way each dish is plated like edible artwork, to the gentle hum of conversation that lets the food do most of the talking. If you’ve ever been to Japan, you’ll feel that same reverence for precision and excellence here.
The menu balances tradition and creativity with ease. You’ll find familiar favorites like perfectly executed California rolls (with actual crab - bless them), but also crave-worthy surprises like udon noodles crowned with crab or eel served over rice that’s equal parts comfort and indulgence. Sushi enthusiasts will find plenty to explore, while fans of hearty, hot dishes won’t feel left out.
Sip, Savor, Repeat 🍶
The drink menu deserves its own standing ovation. You can keep it classic with a beautifully poured sake, venture into playful territory with a Saketini, or even try the Matcha IPA if you’re feeling adventurous. Their curated sake list covers every mood and price point, making it as fun to browse as it is to taste.
