Who doesn't love saving money on your purchases and spending? Most people are aware that Florida doesn't have a state income tax, which attracts people from all over the US to make Florida home for at least 6 months and a day. What you may not know is that our state has a history of granting Tax Holidays each year allowing us to save on sales tax each year.
A tax holiday is a temporary tax break. Tax holidays often suspend state and local sales taxes paid by consumers. Each year, the Governor decides which spending events/categories they want to grant tax savings for the State of Florida. The events may vary each year and each tax holiday within a year may vary on the length of the tax savings window. For more information, visit floridarevenue.com/salestaxholidays.
The 2022 Florida Legislature passed, and Governor DeSantis signed into law, nine sales tax holidays or temporary exemptions and a motor fuel tax exemption. The calendar below details the dates for each exemption period.
If these are things you would normally be planning to purchase, why not tax advantage of saving on the 6% state tax rate (in Florida as of July 2022... taxes could vary in some locations where city taxes are applied.)
