If you're considering a move to Naples - or you're simply interested in how our local schools are performing - you may be interested to know that Florida's latest School Grades have officially been released by the Florida Department of Education.

For many families, schools are one of several important factors when choosing where to live. That's why I wanted to share this update and point you toward the official resources where you can review the latest information for yourself.

Before we dive in, I want to make one thing clear. This article is intended simply as a heads-up that the latest school grades are available. It is not intended to recommend one school over another or to interpret which school may be the best fit for your family. Every child, every family, and every educational journey is different.

If schools are an important part of your home search, I encourage you to review the official reports, visit schools when possible, and speak directly with school administrators before making any educational or real estate decisions.

Why School Grades Matter

Although buying a home is about much more than school boundaries, school quality is often one of the considerations families evaluate when relocating.

Many buyers look at factors such as:

  • Academic achievement

  • Student growth

  • Specialized programs

  • Athletics and extracurricular activities

  • Advanced coursework

  • School culture

  • Commute times

  • Neighborhood amenities

  • Long-term resale appeal

For that reason, the annual release of Florida School Grades provides another valuable resource for families researching communities throughout Southwest Florida.

What Are Florida School Grades?

Each year, the Florida Department of Education evaluates public schools using a statewide accountability system. Rather than relying on a single standardized test, school grades are calculated using multiple performance indicators, including:

  • English Language Arts achievement

  • Mathematics achievement

  • Science achievement

  • Social Studies achievement

  • Student learning gains

  • Learning gains among the lowest-performing students

  • Middle school acceleration

  • Graduation rates

  • College and career readiness

The complete grading methodology and statewide results are available directly from the Florida Department of Education:

Good News for Collier County

The latest results continue to highlight the strength of public education in Collier County.

Collier County Public Schools once again earned an overall district grade of "A," marking the ninth consecutive year the district has achieved this distinction. The district also ranked among Florida's highest-performing school districts based on the state's accountability system.

Individual school grades have also been released and are available for review through the official Florida Department of Education website. If you're interested in a particular school, I encourage you to look beyond the headline and review the complete report card.

Look Beyond the Letter Grade

While Florida's School Grades provide valuable information, they represent only one measurement of a school's performance. Every child has different strengths, interests, learning styles, and educational needs.

Many important factors simply cannot be captured by a single letter grade, including:

  • Teaching philosophy

  • School leadership

  • Fine arts opportunities

  • Career academies

  • Student support services

  • Athletics

  • Campus culture

  • Parent involvement

  • Class sizes

  • Specialized educational opportunities

If schools are important to your family, consider taking the time to:

  • Visit campuses.

  • Meet administrators.

  • Speak with current parents.

  • Review academic offerings.

  • Explore extracurricular activities.

  • Read the complete school report card.

School Boundaries Matter

One important reminder for homebuyers is that school attendance boundaries, enrollment policies, magnet programs, and school choice opportunities may change over time. As your Realtor®, I'm always happy to help you understand the neighborhoods you're considering. However, I cannot verify or guarantee school assignments, enrollment eligibility, or future school performance.

Before purchasing a home, buyers should independently verify:

  • Current attendance boundaries

  • Enrollment requirements

  • School choice options

  • Magnet or specialized programs

  • Transportation availability

  • Current school grades

Buying a Home Is About More Than Schools

One of the things I enjoy most about helping buyers relocate to Naples is that finding the right home is rarely about just one factor.

Families often tell me they're looking for a combination of:

  • Great schools

  • Beautiful neighborhoods

  • Gulf beaches

  • Golf

  • Boating

  • Dining and entertainment

  • Outdoor recreation

  • Short commutes

  • A strong sense of community

Schools are certainly an important consideration for many buyers—but they're just one piece of choosing the community that's the best overall fit for your family's lifestyle and goals.

My purpose in sharing this article is simply to let you know that the latest Florida School Grades have been released and to provide you with the official resources where you can review the information for yourself.

If school quality is an important consideration in your home search, I encourage you to conduct your own research, review the official reports, visit schools, and speak directly with Collier County Public Schools before making any educational or real estate decisions.

As always, if you're considering a move to Naples or Southwest Florida, I'd be happy to help you understand the different communities, neighborhoods, commute patterns, and lifestyle options available throughout our area.

Finding the right home isn't just about finding the right house—it's about finding the right community for you.
