New in The Naples Hood: That NY Bagel Place

There are certain things New Yorkers take very seriously. Pizza. Deli sandwiches. And bagels.

Not the perfectly round, mass-produced kind that have been sitting in a plastic bag for a week. We're talking about the chewy, kettle-boiled, pile-on-the-cream-cheese kind. So, if you live in Golden Gate Estates, Orangetree or northeast Naples, there's a new local business you may want to know about: That NY Bagel Place has opened in Winchester Center off Immokalee Road. And for an area that continues to grow but doesn't always get new restaurants and businesses as quickly as some other parts of Naples, this is a fun addition.

A Little Taste of New York - Without the Plane Ticket

The name pretty much gives away what they're going for. That NY Bagel Place specializes in New York-style, kettle-boiled bagels made from scratch and never frozen. For anyone who has ever heard a New Yorker explain - with considerable passion - why a real bagel is different, the kettle-boiling part matters. It's part of the traditional process that gives a New York-style bagel that distinctive chewy texture on the outside while keeping it softer on the inside. In other words, this isn't just another place selling breakfast sandwiches on something shaped like a bagel. Bagels are actually the point.

Even Better: It's a Local Family Business

This is one of the things I particularly like about sharing new businesses like this. That NY Bagel Place is family owned and operated, and the family behind it actually lives in the community. Owner Derek Leverant is a Golden Gate Estates resident who grew up in New York and works full-time as an engineer for the North Collier Fire Department.

The Winchester Center shop isn't the family's first venture into the bagel business, either. The Leverant family purchased an established bagel shop on U.S. 41 in Bonita Springs in 2023 and later expanded with another location inside Village Walk in Bonita Springs. The new Naples location brings the concept closer to residents of Golden Gate Estates, Orangetree and the growing communities along the Immokalee Road corridor.

So while the bagels may be New York-style, the business itself is very much local.

So...What's on the Menu?

Obviously, you can keep things simple with a fresh bagel and cream cheese. But if you're hungry, there's quite a bit more. The menu includes bagel breakfast sandwiches along with wraps, sandwiches, salads and soups, making this as much of a lunch stop as a breakfast destination. And then there's something called a flagel.

If you've never had one, it's essentially a flatter version of a bagel - and That NY Bagel Place even uses it to make a bagel-style pizza. Bagel + pizza? I'm certainly not going to argue with that combination. They also offer catering, which could make this a convenient local option for office breakfasts, meetings, open houses, family gatherings or those mornings when someone decides feeding a crowd sounded much easier than it actually is.

Where Is That NY Bagel Place in Naples?

You'll find the new location inside Winchester Center, next to Sunshine Ace Hardware in the Orangetree/Golden Gate Estates area.

It's located off Immokalee Road between Randall Boulevard and Oil Well Road, making it particularly convenient for residents in Golden Gate Estates, Orangetree and northeast Naples.

Because it's a newer location, I'd recommend checking the website for current hours and menu information before making a special trip - particularly if you're interested in catering.

Why This Little Opening Is Actually Worth Talking About

If you don't live in this part of Naples, a new bagel shop may not sound like major news. But if you do live out this way, you probably understand. Golden Gate Estates and the communities surrounding the eastern Immokalee Road corridor have grown tremendously, while restaurants, shops and everyday conveniences haven't always grown at quite the same pace. That's slowly changing.

Businesses like That NY Bagel Place give residents another nearby option for grabbing breakfast before work, meeting someone for a casual bite, picking up lunch or ordering food for a gathering - without necessarily heading farther west into Naples.

And I think these smaller openings tell an interesting story about Naples. We spend a lot of time talking about the big developments, new luxury communities and major projects coming to Southwest Florida. But sometimes it's the little things - a neighborhood coffee shop, a new restaurant or, yes, a really good bagel—that make an area feel more complete.

Another New Spot to Put on Your Naples Radar

Part of what I enjoy about living and working in Naples is watching our different communities evolve. And because I'm constantly driving all over Collier County for real estate, I tend to notice when something new pops up. So when I find a new restaurant, shop, development or local business that might be useful—or just plain fun - I like to share it.

If you're in Golden Gate Estates, Orangetree or North Naples, That NY Bagel Place may be worth adding to your list. And if you try the flagel pizza before I do, you'll have to let me know whether bagel + pizza is as good an idea as it sounds.
